[DE] Menus and widgets

Widgets

DirectoryEngine supports some more widgets besides all default WP widgets: 
1.     DE categories: This widget will display some categories of your site. You can decide the appearance of the widget as following:
-    Title: insert the widget’s name.
-    Number of categories: decide how many categories will be displayed.
-    Style: choose  the style the widget will appear: vertical or horizontal.
-    Order by: decide how these categories will be arranged: by name, ID, count or slug.
-    You can also choose to show how posts counts or hide empty categories. 
2.     DE list places: This widget will display some places in your site.  
-    Title: insert the widget’s name.
-    Category: select the category to choose places.
-    Location: select the location to choose places.
-    Style: choose  the style the widget will appear: vertical or horizontal.
-    Query: choose the way to filter the places. 
     •    Featured posts: short by featured places.
     •    Recent posts: short by recent posted places. 
-    Number of posts: decide how many posts will be displayed.
-    Paginate: select the way to load more information. 
     •    Load more: click “load more” to obtain more information.
     •    Page paginate: click the page number to obtain more information. 
3.     DE recent blog
-    Title: insert the widget’s name.
-    Category: select the category to choose places.
-    Style: choose  the style the widget will appear: vertical or horizontal.
-    Number of posts: decide how many posts will be displayed.
-    Paginate: select the way to load more information. 
     •    Load more: click “load more” to obtain more information.
     •    Page paginate: click the page number to obtain more information.
4.     DE review: this widget will display reviews from your users. 
-    Title: insert the widget’s name.
-    Number of posts: decide how many posts will be displayed.
-    Style: choose  the style the widget will appear: vertical or horizontal. 
5.     DE social: this widget will display all your social networks information. 
6.     DE testimonial: this widget will display great words from your users. You can also decide how many posts will appear in this widget.

Sidebars

You can simply drag and drop these widgets to suitable sidebars:
1.     Main sidebar: This sidebar is located on the left side of the category pages and blog page. As you can see in our demo site, we’ve added “DE Review” widget to this sidebar. 
2.     Top sidebar: This sidebar is located on the top of category pages. We’ve chosen “DE list places’ widget to add in this sidebar. 
3.    Single: This sidebar is located on the left side of the single pages. “DE list places” is also the widget we added in this sidebar. 
4.     Bottom sidebar: This sidebar is located on the bottom of every category pages. You can choose whatever widget you want to add to this sidebar, you can also leave them blank as your demo site. 
5.     Footer: These sidebars are located at the end of each page. We divided this sidebar to different columns so that you can inform more information about your site. As you can see, we have added:
-    “Text: About DirectoryEngine” in Footer 1.
-    “Meta: Link” in Footer 2.
-    “Text: Contact us” in Footer 3.
-    “DE list places” in Footer 4. 
Besides, DirectoryEngine also provides widget for your mobile version:
Mobile top sidebar: this sidebar will appear at the top of your site. 
Don’t forget to click “ Save” button to keep all your settings.

Header Menu

Previously, DirectoryEngine just provides you a menu on the left of the page.  Now, you have another way to create on Menu at the Header of a website by following these steps:
1. At the Admin Dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus 
2. At Menu Structure, drag each item into the order you prefer. Click the arrow on the right of the item to reveal additional configuration options.  

3. At Menu Settings, check on “Header Menu” and “Mobile Header Menu” to create a Header Menu for both desktop and mobile site. 

  

4. Don't forget to hit “Save Menu”For those who are using the child theme to modify the “header.php” file, please remember to check out the latest code.
